Job Description

Female applicants with a full driving licence and access to their own reliable vehicle are required for this role.

Do you want a weekend job where you can genuinely get to know the people you support?
At ND Care & Support, our Care Assistants provide care to people in their own homes, helping them remain independent, comfortable and supported.

As a Weekend Care Assistant, you’ll become an important part of someone’s weekend routine, providing practical support, companionship and personal care while building meaningful relationships with the people you visit.

You’ll be part of a friendly and supportive team, with full training, ongoing support and everything you need to feel confident in your role.

What will you be doing?
Every visit is different, but your role may include:

  • Personal and intimate care
Supporting people with washing, dressing, toileting and other aspects of personal care. You must be comfortable providing intimate care while always maintaining dignity, privacy and respect.
  • Medication
Supporting people to take their medication safely and on time, in line with their individual care plans.
  • Food preparation and domestic support
Preparing meals, drinks and snacks, as well as helping with everyday household tasks such as tidying, laundry and keeping the person’s home safe and comfortable.
  • Companionship and emotional support
Companionship is a really important part of the role. You’ll get to know the people you support, have conversations, listen to what’s important to them and provide a friendly, familiar face at the weekend. Sometimes, simply having someone there to talk to can make a real difference to someone’s day.
  • Travelling between visits
You will drive between people’s homes throughout the local area, so a full driving licence and your own reliable vehicle are essential.

Why work for ND Care & Support?
Care work can be challenging, so we believe you should feel supported and rewarded for the difference you make.

  • A friendly team that has your back
You’ll be part of a supportive team where you can ask questions, talk things through and get help whenever you need it. You’re never on your own.
  • £15.63 per hour at weekends
Our weekend rate is £15.63 per hour, including rolled-up holiday pay.
  • Weekend-focused rota
You’ll work on a planned weekend rota, giving you consistency and allowing you to know your shifts in advance.
  • £250 joining bonus
Complete your first 100 hours and you’ll receive a £250 joining bonus.
  • Paid travel time + 25p per mile
You’ll be paid for the time spent travelling between the first and last home you visit, plus 25p per mile mileage reimbursement.
  • Full training and ongoing support
You don’t need years of previous experience in care. We’ll provide the training and support you need to become confident in your role.
  • Enhanced DBS paid for
We reimburse the cost of your Enhanced DBS check after you’ve worked 50 hours, so joining our team doesn’t leave you out of pocket.
  • Free uniform and PPE
Everything you need to work safely is provided.

You don’t need to be an experienced Care Assistant. What matters most is how you treat people.
We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Kind, patient and respectful
  • Reliable and dependable
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Happy providing personal and intimate care
  • A good communicator
  • Willing to learn and follow care plans
  • Able to travel between service users
  • A female driver with a full driving licence and their own car

Previous care experience is welcome, but full training is provided. This could be a great opportunity to start a career in care or develop your existing experience.

Important requirements
To apply, you must:

  • Be female
Section 7(2)(b) of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 applies, as there is a genuine occupational requirement for female staff for these positions.
  • Hold a full UK or international driving licence
  • Have your own reliable vehicle
  • Be comfortable providing intimate care
  • Be willing to complete an Enhanced DBS check
  • Be physically able to carry out manual handling tasks
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK

Please note: We are unable to offer sponsorship.
