Blue Light Card for Carers
All our Carers work hard to deliver a high-quality service to our service users in their local communities, 365 days of the year and we are extremely proud of everything they do. They go above and beyond to care for our service users as if they’re family, and we believe it takes a highly dedicated, passionate and kind-hearted individual to be a good Carer. For this reason, we want to give something back to our inspirational Care Workers to say thank you for their continued commitment.
Have you heard of the Blue Light Card?
The Blue Light Card is a nationwide discount card scheme that is available to those working in the NHS, emergency services, armed forces, social care and more. The card gives you access to a wide range of discounts from a UK-wide network of hundreds of retailers and venues, saving you money with online shopping and in-store purchases on the high street throughout the year. The card costs just £4.99, which is simply an administration fee, and it is valid for two years after purchase. However, for our Care Workers, we are now reimbursing this fee, enabling you to have a Blue Light Card free of charge, with access to lots of fantastic discounts every day of the year.
How to register for your Blue Light Card?
To apply for your own Blue Light Card, you need to create an online account and register. It’s a very quick and easy process – simply fill in an online form. It doesn’t take long at all! Once you’ve purchased your card, ND Care & Support will reimburse you for the full cost when you bring it into the office, so that you’re not out of pocket for long and you’ll be eligible for savings once your card has been activated. This is applicable to Carers working across all three branches of ND Care & Support – Cardiff, Cross Hands and Abertillery.
What can you use your card for?
Once you’ve registered with Blue Light Card and set up your account online, you will have access to a comprehensive list of available discounts from many different retailers on the high street and online. Discounts are available not only for shops but also for restaurants, entertainment, attractions, holidays and services such as car insurance. This means that you can save money every day on the things that you need, enjoy and want throughout the year. What’s not to like?
We fully support this initiative for all our staff, and we are thrilled to be able to add it to our list of benefits and great reasons to join ND Care & Support as a Care Worker. Other benefits include free training, continuous professional development and progression opportunities, support to achieve QCF levels 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care, paid travel time, a generous refer a friend scheme and more!
Rebecca Ford, Director of Care & Support, commented “we recognise how hard our care staff work and we want to show our appreciation for everything they do. The Blue Light Card is the first of a number of new initiatives for our staff. So, watch this space – there’s more to come!”
