Evette Townley and Angela Smyth at Awards Ceremony

On Wednesday 29th November 2017 an ND Care & Support employee was honoured and acknowledged for her learning efforts by Cardiff and the Vale Care & Support Regional Workforce Partnership at a prestigious awards ceremony.

Angela Smyth (pictured) attended an event hosted at Cardiff and the Vale College, in the prestigious Atrium venue alongside Registered Manger for ND Care & Support Evette Townley.
Angela was honoured with a certificate of recognition for completing her Level 5 HSC Leadership Diploma (Adult Advanced Practice) / Uwch Ddiploma Rheolaeth Lefel 5 GIC (Ymarfer Estynedig PPhl) alongside colleagues from 59 care organisations across Cardiff and the surrounding areas.

The event was hosted by Behnaz Akhgar, Presenter with the BBC and opened by Sue Evans, Chief Executive of Social Care Wales. Speaking about the event, Angela said ‘it really was an honour to be in such great company picking up this award. It’s been a really interesting 18 months studying for this qualification – I had a wonderful assessor and the learning curve, though steep at times has been thoroughly enjoyable’.

Evette added ‘what a great evening hosted at the College. We really enjoyed the sense of celebration and achievement in the venue. Of course, with our sector there are always wonderful hiccups. There was a point during the evening that Angela had excused herself from the table. Naturally this was of course the point at which we were called up to the stage to accept her certificate. I was delighted to be able to beckon her over as she came through the doors to toast her success’.

The event was aimed at recognising individual care workers and professionals who have obtained qualifications in the sector and demonstrate true excellence in care within their role. It was catered for by The Classroom – the College’s in-house restaurant located on the 5th floor of the Dumbles Road campus. Guests enjoyed a host of canapes prepared by the students.

In 2016 ND Care & Support were awarded Investors in People (IiP) Gold status. This acknowledges the organisation and their commitment to the development of their staff.
